Redware Pottery is an earthenware made of clay with slip-trailed designs that are motivated by antique plates. The design is created by tracking slip (liquid clay) from a slip cup (cup with a straw). Many of the pieces have coggled edges. Food-safe glaze is on the front surface and unglazed on the rear end, as this was how redware was fashioned by very early Pennsylvania German potters.

Redware is exceptionally collectible and pricey, with value enhancing with age. At around 30 years of age, many of the following pieces are noted at 1/3 their value-- you just do not find classic redware at these costs for this quality.
